Recycling Information

The major goal of the Raincoast Sustainable Living Program (RSLP) was to build awareness and understanding of issues related to sustainable living, and to strengthen capacity among local communities to take action to improve the local environment. One of the areas that the RSLP focused on consistently, from 2009 - 2011, was recycling. Our goal was to inform residents of what could and could not be recycled in Tofino and Ucluelet as well as what could be recycled elsewhere. Please visit the following links to keep yourself informed about recycling matters in the Clayoquot and Barkley Sound area.

1) West Coast Recycling Information. This sheet explains what can and cannot be recycled on the West Coast. It also provides the local number for SonBird Refuse & Recycling in case you have further questions about your recycling.

2) Blue Box and More. This sheet explains everything that can be recycled outside of the blue box (curbside) program. It also has a sheet about backyard composting and provides the number for the Alberni-Clayoquot Regional District in case you have any further questions about recycling.

3) The Scoop on Tofino Recycling. This sheet is intended for Tofino fridges. It is a comprehensive recycling guide and includes pick up times.

4) The Scoop on Ucluelet Recycling. This sheet is intended for Ucluelet fridges. It is a comprehensive recycling guide and includes pick up times.

5) Curbside Recycling Schedule. This is a live link to the District of Tofino's website but also has information about Ucluelet's recycling schedule. This timetable is updated every three months.
